Frequently Asked Questions

How can a Pakistani citizen apply for an Irish visa?

Pakistani citizens can apply online through the Irish Immigration Service’s website via the AVATS system, then submit supporting documents and attend an appointment at a VFS Global visa application center.

AVATS stands for Automated Visa Application and Tracking System. It is the online portal used to complete and submit your Irish visa application.

Required documents typically include a printed visa application form and summary sheet, a cover letter, original passport and copies, passport-sized photographs, travel health insurance, proof of accommodation, six months’ bank statements, and evidence of ties to Pakistan.

You can book a visa appointment through the VFS Global website and submit your application in person at your nearest VFS Global Center.

You can track your application on the VFS website using your reference number and date of birth.

Processing can take up to 8 weeks, so it is strongly recommended to apply well in advance of your intended travel date.

Once your application is processed, you can collect your passport from the VFS Center. If approved, the visa will be affixed directly to your passport.
